I’m Tanya, a multi-generational horsewoman who was quite literally raised on the back of a horse in the hills of California and Nevada. Horses have been woven into nearly every chapter of my life for as long as I can remember.
By the age of three, I was already a self-proclaimed horse trainer extraordinaire—teaching my pony every trick I could dream up. By five, I had promoted myself to neighborhood riding instructor, coaching every kid on the block who would listen. As a teenager, horses became more than something I loved; they became a way of life. I spent those years riding colts, attending brandings, competing in high school rodeo, and soaking up every bit of horsemanship I could along the way.
As a young adult, I followed another lifelong dream and traded the California hills for the mountains of Montana. It was there that I raised my son, built a life I loved, and continued training horses part-time.
Then, in 2016, an unexpected opportunity came along to haul a few horses over the road on the side. What started as a little side hustle quickly grew into something much bigger. One trip became another, the miles added up, and before I knew it, horse transportation had become a business—and a career I truly love. Since then, I’ve traveled countless miles throughout the United States and Canada with some pretty special passengers on board.
For me, transporting horses has never been just about getting them from Point A to Point B. I understand what it means to hand the lead rope of a horse you love to someone else and trust them to take it from there. A lifetime spent around horses has taught me that every horse is an individual, every trip is different, and good horsemanship matters just as much on the road as it does at home.
Today, I’m fortunate to combine two things that have shaped nearly my entire life: horses and the open road.
And when I’m not behind the wheel or caring for horses? You’ll probably find me spending time with my family, searching for a really good sushi spot, exploring a new area or in the kitchen whipping up something delicious. I love to cook whether spending all day tending the smoker, making my own bread or canning treats for later!
It’s been a long road from that three-year-old little girl training her pony in California to hauling horses across North America.
And somehow, horses have been at the heart of it every step of the way.
